Cincinnati Repair Services Typewriters!

Let's face it, there aren't a whole lot of these left.  But they're still available and they still break and they still need to be fixed.  Cincinnati Repair can help you!

goat type1What we DON'T work on:
IBM Selectrics: Sorry, we just don't work on them.  We get one or two calls per week from people who can't bear to throw these heavy machines away.  They were tough.  They were sturdy.  They were heavy.  And they were complicated.  There are over 2000 moving parts in the IBM Selectric typewriter, and that means 2000 possibilities to go wrong.  Chasing down one single problem just takes too long, and they aren't old enough to have antique value.  As of right now, we don't know of anyone in the Cincinnati area who will work on them.

What we DO work on:
Vintage and Antique Manual Typewriters: Smith Corona, Royal, Underwood, Remington, Olympia, etc.,.  You name it, we'll probably work on it.  BUT, understand, it takes time to disassemble, diagnose, and reassemble these old machines.  Especially considering the vast number of different models.  Therefore, even a typewriter in relatively good shape is probably going to require AT LEAST 2 HOURS OF LABOR.  At $75 per hour, that meanS you'll pay a minimum of $150.  If the machine hasn't been used in a long time, you're probably looking at more like 3 or 4 hours.  $350 is not unusual to get an old typewriter working again.  So consider how much money you're willing to put into an old typewriter before bringing it to us.

For a complete restoration, $450 is the bare minimum.

Newer Electric Typewriters: Swing-arm typewriters (the ones that rely more on mechanics than electronics) generally take more time than the simple daisy wheel models.  The more moving parts you can see in your typewriter, the longer it's going to take to fix.  Most of the swingarm types can be fixed in 2 or 3 hours.  The kind that use a letter wheel, can usually be fixed in 1 hour.

What To Expect
Typewriter Repair Costs: $75 per hour.

Typewriter Repair Turnaround: Usually 2 to 3 weeks.
